Become immersed in entrepreneurial concepts and trends.
The School of Journalism and Mass Communication Digital Media Entrepreneurship Speaker Series is designed to bring the best and brightest minds in digital entrepreneurship to the Texas State campus so our students have direct access to them. The speaker series is part of two classes in the SJMC: MC1100D, a one-hour elective offering for undergraduate students, and MC5323, a three-hour course for graduate students.
The course is taught by Dr. Kelly Kaufhold at the graduate level and Dale Blasingame at the undergraduate level, with assistance throughout the semester from fellow digital sequence faculty members Dr. Cindy Royal and Jon Zmikly.
Through the bi-monthly speaker series, our students will be immersed in entrepreneurial concepts, knowledge of current trends in digital media and they will get to meet one-on-one with distinguished entrepreneurs who have started their own businesses and succeeded in the digital era. Students in these particular classes have either started their own companies, are interning for a start-up or have a genuine passion to learn about the start-up culture and, perhaps one day, create their own companies.
Speaker series discussions are open to the entire Texas State student body. They will be held every other Wednesday from 5-6:20 p.m. in Old Main 320. You can see a list of the speakers here. You can also follow along during series events with the #txstdigital hashtag.
