The School of Journalism and Mass Communication Digital Media Entrepreneurship Speaker Series is designed to bring the best and brightest minds in digital entrepreneurship to the Texas State campus so our students have direct access to them. The speaker series is part of two classes in the SJMC: MC4328, the capstone course for Digital Media Innovation undergraduate students, and MC5323, a three-hour course for graduate students. The 2017 series is our third year of offering this program.
The series during Spring 2017 is taught by Dr. Kelly Kaufhold at the graduate level and Dr. Cindy Royal at the undergraduate level, with assistance throughout the semester from fellow digital sequence faculty members Dale Blasingame and Jon Zmikly.
Through the bi-monthly speaker series, our students will be immersed in entrepreneurial concepts, knowledge of current trends in digital media and they will get to meet one-on-one with distinguished entrepreneurs who have started their own businesses and succeeded in the digital era. Students in these particular classes have either started their own companies, are interning for a start-up or have a genuine passion to learn about the start-up culture and, perhaps one day, create their own companies.
